What Is Tia?
by Any Safarodiyah
TIA-shortened from transient ischemic attack- is a neurological problem caused by decreased blood flow to the brain lasting less than 24 hours. Most last only a few minutes. Its other term is “ministroke”. A person with TIA experiences symptoms of stroke only for a moment, then turns back to normal. The symptoms of TIA are similar to those of stroke, except they don’t last long. Usually, there is no permanent brain damage caused by TIA. However, a person suffering TIA should be examined immediately, because a TIA is an often sign of a major stroke that will occur in the future. A proper medical treatment can reduce the risk to have another TIA or stroke.
